Tim Longmeyer, the state's former secretary of the Personnel Cabinet and deputy attorney general, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to accepting kickbacks from a state contractor.

Longmeyer, 48, of Louisville, acknowledged accepting more than $200,000 in kickbacks from a Lexington company that, with his help, became a market researcher to successive administrators of the Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan, Humana and Anthem.

Longmeyer was secretary of the state Personnel Cabinet under former Gov. Steve Beshear from January 2011 through September 2015. On Jan. 3, newly elected Attorney General Andy Beshear, the former governor’s son, appointed him as his chief deputy at an annual salary of $124,620. Longmeyer resigned on March 23, just two days before he was charged with bribery.
